Comfronting My Insecurities

Today I think I finally had to face my insecurity. I realized that I HATE summer. The weather is great, and it is the perfect opportunity to dress light and "girly" and here I am...too scared to go shopping because I still feel like the fat girl! I want to wear cute little dresses and shop for a bathing suit, but I just don't feel like I am still not where I want to be, nor do I feel like I have any business shopping for anything new. As crazy as it sounds...I am just not up to it! I look at myself in the mirror and feel like there is no way I can wear shorts, a bathing suit, or even a tanktop. So here I am everyday in jeans that are still too big and short sleeve shirts.

What I find the most interesting is that I am usually the one motivating others and encouraging people to have a positive attitude towards the journey, but I am the hardest on myself in this regard. Almost 70lbs later and I still can't bring myself to even try on a pair of shorts. I look at it like I want to be at my goal before I even attempt to wear anything like that. It is hard, and I didn't realize that I was struggling with this as much until the last week or so.

I know I just have to just press on and give myself a little more credit. I will eventually, but I know it is still an everyday mental struggle. But I WILL get there.

  1. Krystle really? 70 pounds lighter and you can't by new clothes? You have lost a whole person so you definitely need some new clothes. Trust me you will fell much better about your self in the smaller clothes. It is so motivating trying on a size that you have not been able to get in for a while. Please don't act like that towards your self. By you something once a week and you will feel better. I hope you make that decision soon as possible because I just will hate to see you in those baggy jeans. It's time to upgrade Krystle!!!!!Let's get it together hun you are that sexy diva out the bunch.

  2. I agree with Krystl2012, you really need to at least try to go and shop for something new. I definitely understand where you are coming from though. After I lost some weight, I couldn't fit my old clothes but felt like there wouldn't be anything in the store that would look right on me. Everytime I put on something new, I feel much better about myself and the progress that I made. You have come so far. You will be so surprised when you try on new clothes--even not being at goal yet. I can't wait for the blog post where you blow us away!

  3. I know what you mean, but at the same time, you have to get a few clothes that make you feel amazing. Even if you are still not quite at your goal. I'm a firm believer that you should feel good about yourself even if you're the biggest person in the room. My mom is still a little overweight, but she is so stylish and cute. She totally rocks her look. I say go for it and buy some things that make you feel good while you're working towards you goal.

  4. I think having a good girlfriend go with you clothes shopping makes a bug difference a lot of times it takes somebody handing you and making you try a new style or cut of clothes to really see the difference in your body! Better go take advantage of those sunnesales before that are gone! :)

  5. Shopping for a new wardrobe after losing a lot of weight is intimidating for a number of reasons. First, losing weight means that the composition and shape of your body is transforming. Second, looking good in your clothes is all about fit, color, and style, regardless of size. Since your body likely has a new shape, the styles of clothing that will accentuate your body the best has likely changed too. Third, your new clothes will require new underwear and shapewear in order to give your look a strong foundation. Lastly, it is expensive to buy a new wardrobe, especially when you have yet to reach the size at which you are likely to remain for a while. All this being said and understood, you should definitely begin to build your new wardrobe now. This doesn't mean that you actually have to buy anything yet, but you should certainly begin to try on the clothes you've always wanted to wear but were too afraid to do so. Not only will you be motivated to keep getting healthy, but also you will begin to get an idea of how you want your new wardrobe to look. This is the exciting and fun part! You get to makeover your entire image from scratch. Have fun with it! And take lots of photos to share with us.

  6. Thank you everyone for your input. I will definitely need to take an honest person with me. I will mayne start in the net few weeks with some maxi dresses....because I know shorts are just not going to happen for me. I don't care what anyone says....I am not going to feel comfortable in them where I am now.

  7. Be willing to leave your comfort zone. The greatest barrier to achieving your
potential is your comfort zone. Great things happen when you make friends with your discomfort zone.
